i love to see a fellow anomalisa enjoyer!!!! i also think some films are more suited to an open air screening than others. Case in point i went to see The Zone of Interest at the open air cinema last year with my boyfriend and because the immersive and eerie sound design is such a big part of the experience of watching Jonathan Glazer's masterpiece it didn't land as well with the audience as well as say Barbie or Mamma Mia (plus the subject matter being you know a genocide probably didn't help) I think musicals are the best genre of film to enjoy outdoors. Bonus points if you can sing along to the songs!

Anomalisa enjoyers unite! I love your point about open air and musicals; I am prone to self-pity every time I remember that I have yet to watch The Young Girls of Rochefort in an outdoor cinema..

Wow, what a pleasure to read and reconsider the open-air movie. It’s been awhile since I watched a film outside and now I’m craving it. Excited for more!

As a cinephile who hasn't had many opportunities to watch films outdoors, I've always paid attention to how the film speaks to my life upon the viewing but I've never had the pleasure of paying attention to how the film speaks with the present day moment when set outdoors. Each of your experiences are so detailed and lush and vivid! I'm absolutely inspired and will now be on the lookout for outdoor screenings this summer so I can have my own experiences to remember and write about. 💞
